Plain version: we keep what you tell us (your taste preferences, ratings, the menus you photograph) so our recommendations get better over time. We don't sell your personal information. When you tap Present, the restaurant gets a record of that table, never your name, and any rating it sees is anonymized.

What we collect
Taste answers. The six onboarding questions, anything you type or dictate in a free-text field, and the ratings you leave. Dictation runs on your phone; no audio reaches us. All of it is optional. Skip everything and PairMe still works.
Menu and wine list photographs. The image and the text we read out of it. We keep the extracted list so the next diner at that restaurant doesn't have to photograph it again. We do not use facial recognition, and we delete the original photograph after we read it.
Session history. Restaurant, date, dishes, wine, and your rating.
Account identifier. You sign in with Apple or Google only; we never see a password. We receive an account identifier, an email address (Apple may give us a private relay address) and, if the provider shares it, your name.
Basic technical data. Device and usage data, such as the screens you reach and the wines shown to you, which we record ourselves, plus error reports from our servers.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data: not to restaurants, not to distributors, not to anyone.
We do not take a commission on what you drink, and a restaurant cannot pay us to put a specific bottle in front of you without that bottle being marked as theirs.
We do not share your name with a restaurant. When you tap Present, the restaurant receives a record of that table: the date and time, the dishes, the wines shown (with unit and price), and any ticket or table number its staff adds. If your rating reaches a restaurant, it's in anonymized form.
We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we use no third-party analytics or advertising tools.
Who we share with
Only the service providers we need to run PairMe: Railway (server hosting), Vercel (website hosting), Anthropic (reading menu photographs and drafting pairings), Apple and Google (sign-in), and Sentry (server error monitoring). Restaurants receive only the Present record and anonymized ratings described above. We'll also disclose data if the law genuinely requires it, and we'll tell you unless we're barred from doing so.
Your choices

Change your taste answers in the app at any time.
Delete your account in the app (Profile > Settings > Delete account) and it takes effect immediately; you can also email us. The restaurant keeps its record of what was presented at a table, no longer linked to you.
Email us for a copy of your information, including your history in a file.
How long we keep it
Taste answers and history: for as long as you have an account. Original menu photographs: deleted after we read them. Extracted wine lists: kept indefinitely, because they describe a restaurant's menu, not you.
Age
PairMe is for people of legal drinking age: 21 or older in the United States. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone younger. If we learn that we have, we delete it.
Where we operate
We and our service providers may store and process data outside your country, as the full Policy describes. If you're in California, the choices above are how you exercise your rights under the CCPA, and we do not sell personal information as that law defines it.
Changes
If we make a change that matters, we'll update this page and the date above.
