Plain version first: we keep what you tell us about your taste so our picks get better, and we do not sell it to anyone. The rest of this page says the same thing at greater length, because the app stores require it.
What we collect
Taste answers. The six onboarding questions, anything you type or dictate in a free-text field, and the ratings you leave. All of it optional. Skip everything and we still work.
Menu and wine list photographs. The image and the text we read out of it. We keep the extracted list so the next diner at that restaurant does not have to photograph it again. We do not keep photographs that contain faces, and we discard the original image after extraction.
Session history. Restaurant, date, dishes, wine, your rating.
Account identifier. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an identifier and an email address. Nothing else from those accounts.
Basic technical data. Device type, app version, crash reports.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data. Not to restaurants, not to distributors, not to anyone.
We do not take a commission on what you drink, and a restaurant cannot pay us to put a specific bottle in front of you without that bottle being marked as theirs.
We do not share your name with a restaurant. If you allow a restaurant to see your rating, it reaches them without your identity attached.
We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Who we share with
Only the vendors we need to run the service: hosting, crash reporting, email delivery, and the service that reads text out of a photograph. Each of them is bound to use the data only to do that job. We will also disclose data if the law genuinely requires it, and we will tell you unless we are barred from doing so.
Your choices
Read everything we hold about your taste, inside the app, in plain words.
Change or clear any answer at any time.
Delete your account and everything attached to it. Email us and it is done within thirty days.
Export your history as a file.
How long we keep it
Taste answers and history for as long as you have an account. Crash reports for ninety days. Extracted wine lists indefinitely, because they describe a restaurant, not you.
Age
PairMe is for people of legal drinking age, 21+ in the United States. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone younger. If we learn we have, we delete it.
Where we operate
Data is stored in the United States. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the rights that law gives you over your data, and the routes above are how you use them. If you are in California, the same routes satisfy your rights under the CCPA, and we do not sell personal information as that law defines it.
Changes
If we change something that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, not by quietly changing the date at the top of this page.
